The famous Martin guitars are made by C.F. Martin & Company which is based in the US and which was established way back in the early 1800s. This factory has always been run by a Martin and the current Martin is the great-great-great-grandson of the first Martin. The company founder was originally from Germany and had become an apprentice for a well-known guitar maker aged 15 and after the training, he went back to his town and opened his own guitar-making shop. Martin moved to New York to escape the battle between the guilds and he later moved to the current home of the company – he would be proud to see that Martin guitars plus  great amplifier  equals  fun.

Another invention by the company is the line of archtop instruments that it produced in the 30s. The company has to be commended for its contribution to the growth of guitars and music and for having successful survived the great depression and two wars – Martin guitars are a true American legend.
